Freon Charging
When someone calls for Raleigh air conditioner repair, one of the most frequent requests we have is, “Can you charge my system with freon?” Many times, our customers refer to the freon they have as the “old freon,” which is R22 Freon.
There are many misconceptions about Freon. This is mostly because some businesses have taught their technicians to lead consumers to believe things that aren’t true about the freon their Raleigh air conditioner uses. We want you to know there are TONS and tons of “old freon” available, and it will be around forever!
So to answer the question “Can you charge my system with freon?” yes, we can charge your air conditioning system with any kind of freon or refrigerant your air conditioning unit requires. It doesn’t matter if it’s the “old” R22 freon or the “new” 410A refrigerant.
Most importantly, if your air conditioning system needs freon added, that means you leak. There is no reason you will ever need freon or refrigerant added to your air conditioning system unless it has leaked out. Your Raleigh air conditioner will only leak out of one of a few places.
R22 freon and 410A refrigerant are expensive and should not be added to a leaking air conditioning system unless the customer is aware that this is not a long-term solution, but just a temporary fix. In some cases, this is what the consumer wants, and we are happy to oblige. Some other short-term fixes can be done.
The freon leak in your Raleigh air conditioner can easily be located and permanently repaired before adding refrigerant. Once the leak has been properly repaired in your air conditioner, it shouldn’t ever need Freon added again.
